easy 20 minute tomato soup

Chilly fall weather calls for soup and this soup is as easy as can be. Perfect for a quick 20-30 minute supper and the leftovers make for a great lunch the next day.

1 cup cream 

2 tablespoons flour

3 tablespoons butter

2 (15 oz) tomato sauce cans

salt, pepper, onion powder + garlic powder

Optional toppings...

basil, avocado, cheese (any kind), bacon bits, caramelized onions or anything you like :) 

How to make...

Melt the butter in a sauce pan and add the flour to create a thickening base. Then add in the cream and tomato sauce and whisk together. Next add all the seasonings to your taste and let simmer on low for 10 minutes. 

Optional additions...

I love to add in some chipotle tobasco (make it as spicy or faint as you like) and my favorite toppings are basil and avocado. 

And of course you can not have tomato soup with out a tasty grilled cheese on the side. I like to be a little extra and make my grilled cheese "fancy" with whole grain bread, colby jack cheese, mayo, mustard, spinach, basil, onion and sometimes even a little pickle.
